We Condone Righteousness, Condemn Killing

September 23rd, 2008 | Category: Launches

Trigger recently launched the website for Overture Films’ Righteous Kill. You probably know this movie better as the new cop thriller/drama starring both Robert De Niro and Al Pacino. The movie, which came out on September 12, tells the suspenseful story of two detectives, one of whom seems to be killing the suspects of their investigations. And now, about that website.

The Site:

There’s more to the website than the standard film synopsis and photo gallery (although that’s there too). The homepage gives users the option to “investigate” the main characters: Turk and Rooster. In this case, investigating means scrolling through quotes, images, videos and profiles that provide a deeper understanding of each character.

At the bottom of the homepage is another feature, “Whose line is it?” Since the film’s main draw is the infamy of its stars, this trivia game checks your knowledge of Pacino and De Niro’s most famous lines. Once you submit your answer, you’ll see how you compare to everyone else who has answered that question.

There’s also a link in the top navigation to download the Righteous Kill widget. The widget lets you share the photos, movie trailer, downloads and quote game on the social networking site of your choosing.

The Game:

The Righteous Kill Shooting Range Training Game is probably the most fun feature of the site. In it, you step into the opening scene of the film and practice your marksmanship at the police shooting range. The game gets progressively harder, mixing both criminal and civilian targets so you’ll be penalized for shooting at anything that moves.

There are some more photos of the site and the game in the gallery.

Stand Up To Cancer Raises Over $100 Million

September 15th, 2008 | Category: Launches

Last Friday viewers from all around the world tuned in to watch all three major U.S. networks unite with celebrities to raise over $100 million in the fight against cancer.

The telethon aired September 5th and the unprecedented alliance of NBC, CBS, and ABC networks reached an estimated 170 countries and territories. “The statistics are staggering,” said Charles Gibson, anchor of ABC News’s “World News Tonight with Charles Gibson,” when the campaign was launched in May. “Cancer claims one person every minute every day in the United States.”

In an effort to create a united American front celebrities donated their bodies. Desperate Housewives’ Dana Delany let a camera crew follow her through a breast examination. Former NBA star Charles Barkley was filmed going in for a colonoscopy, and television comedy star Brad Garrett underwent an on-the-air prostate exam.

Another major contributor was philanthropist Sidney Kimmel who pledged $25 million in “his war” against cancer.
“On behalf of the Stand Up To Cancer leadership team, we are tremendously grateful to everyone who contributed to make this historic event a success,” said Lisa Paulsen, president of the Entertainment Industry Foundation. “This money will go directly to funding the research programs necessary to defeat this insidious disease.”

Congratulations SU2C Team. Because of your determination there is a new $100,000,000 dedicated to the to fight against cancer! KEEP STANDING!!

Trigger’s ‘Stand Up To Cancer’ App On Display in NYC

September 04th, 2008 | Category: Launches

As you recall, one of Trigger’s Facebook applications, The Stand, is at the heart of the fundraising efforts of Stand Up To Cancer. Now our work can be seen in New York City.

The Stand is an animated grid that shows Facebook users who have been affected by cancer. (You can read our original post about it here.) Clicking any of the tiles on The Stand will open up the name of the person shown and his or her personal story relating to the disease. The Stand also lists friends in each user’s own Facebook network who have also been affected, thus illustrating the powerful message that we are all ultimately touched by the disease.

Random cells flip and alternate between pictures and arrows. Also, the featured faces all have their own color-coded category, like the baby here, who is “in treatment” and thus framed in the color red.

While The Stand and its data are exported to the official SU2C website, Trigger’s application has unique visibility in the video currently playing inside a large window display at Rockefeller Plaza in New York. This video simulation of The Stand shows a succession of individual photos emerging from the grid of faces, revealing each person’s connection to cancer, thereby bringing the passersby literally face to face with reality of the disease.

“The Stand” at Rockefeller Plaza can be viewed from August 1st through September 5th. The prime time television special also airs on September 5 at 8pm PST on ABC, CBS and NBC.
