You other sites can €œGet out the way€: Hancock is here

May 19th, 2008 | Category: Launches

Trigger€™s work for SONY€™s Hancock is far from your average movie site. The site confronts visitors with a news story on the controversial but comical superhero, which is then deconstructed across a slick multi-panel interface complete with randomizing testimonial videos. (These videos, like the videos on the blog portion of the site, Hancock Was Here, were created by Trigger).

Thanks to the games sections of the site €“ Hancock€™s So-called Heroics and Guess the Financial Toll €“ users can take a crack at the cost/benefit analysis of a superhero. This theme extends to the rest of the site in the form of a running count of Hancock€™s financial toll, which switches to a release date countdown for 20 different countries(see the upper right corner of the images above and below).

For Hancock€™s So-called Heroics, the anchor€™s voice returns to announce leaderboard games such as Crisis City, Urban Rescue and Flight & Fight. In both Crisis City and Urban Rescue, players have to balance the earning potential of heroic deeds (hero points) with the probability of causing collateral damage, since the financial toll is subtracted from their final score. In Crisis City, crisis indicators and game hints guide Hancock in an aerial view of the 3D cityscape, with crises appearing as bulls-eyes. If Hancock maneuvers to solve enough of the €œright€ crises (and not ruin too many buildings along the way), his hero points will outweigh the financial toll.

Recognize any LA landmarks?

Soon enough Hancock will have to choose between a bunch of competing crises…

In Urban Rescue, Hancock flies over the cityscape in order to save victims of everything from a cat in a tree to a gang shootout. With the help of a crisis timer and game hints, the sardonic Hancock — who needs validation more than he€™d like to admit €“ can save these victims in time. When Hancock fails, though, victims insult him true to the film€™s form.

Being a superhero isn’t completely thankless…

Lucasfilm expands Trigger’s universe

May 19th, 2008 | Category: Launches

Deeply honored we are: Trigger just signed on to create games for Lucasfilm’s one-of-a-kind film and TV series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Releasing August 15th, press for the computer-generated film is gaining momentum. The project strikes a chord with a few of the guys at Trigger who first connected with Lucasfilm 10 years ago when pitching ideas for Starwars.com. (The picture below shows the guys at legendary Skywalker Ranch, and proves how young and geeked out they were.)

The Clone Wars will cover what happens between Episode II: Attack of the Clones and Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, detailing the storylines of second-trilogy characters like Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker. The film is the seventh installment of the Star Wars canon and features the voices of Samuel L. Jackson as Mace Windu and Anthony Daniels as C-3PO, but the fun doesn’t end there. Starting in the Fall, the weekly episodes for The Clone Wars will air on Cartoon Network and TNT. Check out this pic of how some familiar faces look in the new treatment:

Trigger & Made of Honor help peeps get hitched

May 12th, 2008 | Category: Launches

Sony Pictures recently ran a contest to promote its latest release, Made of Honor. For the contest, engaged couples submitted videos explaining the moment they “first knew they were meant to be together” for a chance to get married at the red carpet premiere of the film. (The ceremony was conducted by none other than Mary Hart.)

Trigger produced this short commercial to explain and promote the contest. The video aired on ABC.com’s Video On-Demand as a commercial shown between segments of ABC TV shows.

Our latest exercise: The Jenny Craig Health Tracker

May 06th, 2008 | Category: Launches

Whoever said that sitting in front of a computer all day kept people from losing weight? Trigger’s new Facebook application, The Jenny Craig Health Tracker, gives weight loss hopefuls the organization and motivation they might need to succeed in their plans to lose weight. The health tracker app is the first of its kind for Trigger: a fully functional application designed specifically for the Facebook platform.

So what does it do? You can record your meals in a journal to make sure you’re paying attention to what you’re eating, chart your daily activities (including your mood for each day), and keep track of weight loss by entering your daily weight. (Don’t worry. You can keep all of the info private so your weight isn’t broadcast for the world to see.) The Health Tracker even keeps track of all the information you enter and charts your weight loss on a graph so you can follow the progress visually for extra encouragement. Take a look:

jc_fb_home.jpg

The homepage puts most of the information you’ll need at your fingertips. You can enter your daily weight, your current mood and what you’ve had to eat. A module shows your progress for health goals you’ve set for yourself, and you can even challenge a friend if competition works as a motivator for you.

In the journal, you can write down what you eat for each meal, everyday. It saves all the information so you can track your habits over time and think about ways to improve your diet.

On the weight tracker page, you can enter your weight to see it charted across time. Plus, by entering your height, you can also track your Body Mass Index (BMI), and read about its importance in a healthy lifestyle.

jc_fb_goal.jpg

Set a weight loss goal to remind you of how many pounds you want to shed. Then enter the reason you want to lose weight.

You can invite and challenge friends, form groups and display reached goals in a module on your Facebook profile for extra motivation. When you reach a goal, the app can put an update on your profile Mini-Feed that notifies your friends. Or not. It’s totally customizable.

Okay, enough yapping. You can check it out for yourself at apps.facebook.com/jennytracker.
