The motorcycle from HELL

I don’t know how I forgot to share this, but we saw this motorcycle a few months ago at lunch. It is painted completely flat black — all of it. Except of course for the handlebars, rear tire and rim, which are a race-proven neon green. Need extra storage? A briefcase will do just fine.

I used to know a self-professed, Japanese-wisened color theorist. I think he would say that this bike’s owner is extremely bad ass (flat black) but also concerned about safety and visibility (neon green). A sensible and balanced design!

Behold – Thou Art Dead!

June 02nd, 2006 | Category: Launches

Trigger just launched a terrific new game for our Monster House movie site!

It’s an early 90’s style retro arcade game, built off a few screens of a game called “Thou Art Dead” that appear in the upcoming feature film. Trigger took in reference images and expanded them into three fully playable game levels, adding additional pixel art animations, characters, and more. My favorite part is probably the custom music scores we had created — they really have that 8-bit feel to them, and it turns out that type of music isn’t all that easy to make, even with today’s technology. We have custom sound effects too.

Here’s Level 1: The Caverns! Collect coins as you wade thru the murky caves to reach the pipes that lead up to the castle where your fair princess is held captive by an evil dragon! Goulish enemies are everywhere, can your trusty axe save you?

The Level 1 Boss Enemy is a Jell-O like blob with floaty skeletons inside him. One of our favorite pixel characters in the game!

Get past Level 1, you’ll see Level 2: The Castle! The Boss Enemy at the end is a huge green dragon that breathes fireballs!

Grab yourself a high score, and you might find yourself on the leaderboard! Egads – who has that monster high score of 999,999,999? It’s the guru of Thou Art Dead, Skull! You ain’t gonna beat his score!

Score more than 5000 coins when you kill off the Level 2 Boss Enemy, and you just might see the HIDDEN third level — the depths of hell!

You can find the THOU ART DEAD game and tons of other fun stuff at the movie site: www.monsterhouse-movie.com.

XBOX 360 – Finally Here!

June 02nd, 2006 | Category: Trigger Los Angeles

So mostly we’re ramping up on a ton of new projects for the next couple months. We’re on that part of the production cycle where all the new projects are in the delicate design phase, you know?

We’ve hit a couple terrific company milestones in the last month, so to celebrate the Red Baron snuck off to Best Buy and got us an XBOX 360, complete with 3 games and 3 additional wireless controllers. You should have seen us picking out all that gaming gear. The Best Buy clerk was like “Dude, is all this for your office? You’re going to have a sweet break room.” And then he added “where’s your office?” We were vague about the answer.

Our current favorite game is the boxing game, which is a hoot and an half. We also have Ghost Recon, we’ve tried the co-op mode and we were doing ok until I accidently shot (and killed) the Red Baron when we started taking fire from across a street. That’s when we found out that by default, Ghost Recon does not allow respawns. Sorry, Red Baron. It is amazing the extra level of tension and fun you get when you know that one shot from an enemy (or a teammate) means certain death, and that you’re out of the game permanently. We all agreed we would never be able to handle real war.

We also got some new IKEA furniture for the conference room, and the TV isn’t sitting on the floor anymore. :)
